That way, customers can conveniently access your URLs for specific business channels, such as your website, store, or social media accounts.
But how do you get started with Linktree? Good question! Below, I’ll show you how to set up a Linktree account in three simple steps and help you decide whether it’s the right fit for your business or not.
How To Set Up Your Linktree Account
To start your Linktree journey, you need to head to its official website. From there, the entire process is simple and can be split into three key steps.
1. Fill In Linktree’s Key Sign Up Steps
From Linktree’s homepage, I selected the “Sign up free” button from the top right corner. I was redirected to another page where I could create an account with my email address, Google account, or Apple account. In this case, I signed up with my Google account.

Next, I had to choose a username for my account and follow a five step process to set up. This included:
- Pinpointing why I was using Linktree, either as a creator, a business, or for personal use
- Choosing a plan. Though there are three paid plans available, you can set up a free plan to begin with.
- Selecting which platforms I’m on. There were 15 options to choose from, including popular social media like Instagram, TikTok, and X. These platforms will appear on your link-in-bio page.
- Adding the social media profiles I’d selected to my Linktree. I could also add links to other websites, like a personal website, online store, or blog, but this was optional.
- Filling in key profile details like my profile photo, display name, and account bio.

However, I think that the free plan is superb value for money. Though your link-in-bio page will have less personalization options and showcases Linktree’s branding, the features you get are great value, especially for a freebie!
2. Explore Your Linktree Dashboard
Once I’d finished filling in this key information, I saw a preview of how my Linktree looks. After pressing “Let’s go,” I was redirected to the “My Linktree” dashboard. From this area you organize your new bio by adding, changing, or deleting your links.

Other dashboard features to know about include:
- Changing your Linktree design. On the “My Linktree” page, I selected the “Design” button at the top right of the screen. From there, I could choose a more colorful theme for my Linktree. I could either create a custom design or pick from 28 free designs (at the time of writing).

At the top of the page, I tapped the “Copy your Linktree URL” button. When the button changed to “Copied!” I could paste the link wherever I wanted – it’s as easy as that!

- Does your business have multiple online channels? – If your online presence only consists of a website and one key social media platform, a Linktree probably won’t be worth it. However, if you have multiple online channels that are equally as important (like a website, blog, YouTube, and LinkedIn), having a Linktree will help your customers access each of these platforms in one centralized location.
- Are you reaching out to customers online? – When reaching out to your network or potential customers online, you can paste your LinkTree URL to your messages. This makes it easier for the recipient to access the pages they need and learn more about your business.
- Do your social media profiles have limited bio space? – With some social media channels like Instagram and TikTok, you may only have a limited number of links that you can add to your bio. By adding a Linktree URL instead, you can help followers access multiple links at once.
- Do you mind having limited customization? – On the Linktree free plan, you have limited ways to customize your link-in-bio, which means you may have to upgrade to a paid plan for better options.
