Summer may be coming to a close, but we’re just warming up for one of the busiest ecommerce seasons. Whether you’re releasing new fall products or starting the Christmas buildup, you can maximize your efforts by taking part in social media trends for September.

Below, I’ve shared the trends businesses are using this month on the most popular social media platforms. To make things easier, I’ll give you everything you need to recreate each video – including a link to the trending audio, step-by-step instructions, and example posts.

Let’s get into it!

Instagram Trend: POV: It’s September

🎵Trending audio: Lalala Gilmore Girls

September 1 marks the start of Gilmore Girls season. If you haven’t had a chance to watch the comedy-drama, it’s the epitome of all things fall. The show’s theme tune becomes a TikTok and Instagram trend every year without fail, as people use it to share the seasonal transformation of their homes and wardrobes.

This one’s perfect for any brand releasing fall products, whether that’s a new cinnamon cookie, pumpkin-clad pajamas, or a seasonal homeware line. Showing your products being used in the ultimate cozy setting is the best way to appeal to potential customers.

📸 How To Use This Instagram Trend

  1. Click the linked trending sound on a mobile device and tap “Use audio”
  2. Film a clip of your products that lasts the entire length of the audio (22 seconds) or less
  3. Add text to announce your product or share your excitement for the season. Examples from other businesses include:
    • “The shoes of the season”
    • “How I want to dress this fall”

TikTok Trend: Every Night, I’ll be There

🎵Trending audio: original sound by Moldy Egg

Ever had that trusty bag that goes everywhere with you, or maybe you’re never seen without an AirPod in your left ear? TikTok users have been sharing pictures of themselves being caught time and time again with their ride-or-die products. The trending TikTok audio in the background is also very fitting: “Every night at dinner, I’ll be there. Every birthday party, I’ll be there. Every Christmas…” You get the gist.

This social media trend for September is a great way to show the value and quality of your products as they continue to be used over time. You could use user-generated content, pictures of you or your staff using the product, or simply repurpose old social media content, like TikTok user Sweet Design did:
