Squarespace marks its 20th anniversary with its ninth Super Bowl campaign and an exclusive template – Singularity.

Founded in 2003 by Anthony Casalena, Squarespace had humble beginnings – similarly to Facebook, Squarespace began in a dorm room at the University of Maryland. Two decades later, the team has grown to over 1,600 people with offices around the world, helping people create millions of websites.

And, in 2022 alone, Squarespace made $867 million in revenue!

Squarespace’s original goal was to simply help others build premium websites, but the website builder’s mission has since transformed. It now strives to ensure that entrepreneurs have everything they need to get started and grow online.

But, how does all of this tie into Squarespace’s Super Bowl ad?

As the Founder and CEO of Squarespace, Anthony Casalena, said about the recent Super Bowl campaign and the company’s development:

“While we started off as a website that builds websites, Squarespace has evolved into a powerful platform that provides all of the tools entrepreneurs need to turn an idea into reality and start a thriving business online.”

The 2023 Super Bowl ad serves as a nod to the company’s origins and initial goal on its 20th anniversary. It features Oscar-nominated actor Adam Driver coming to the realization that a website can make other websites – in this case, Squarespace. As a result of this discovery, reality begins to fall apart and a singularity event occurs, hence the name of the accompanying template.

Previous Squarespace Super Bowl ads have featured Zendaya, Dolly Parton, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, John Malkovich, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Jeff Bridges. So, Adam Driver is in good company!

Squarespace has 100+ professionally-designed templates for users to select, covering a wide range of industries, including fashion, media and podcasts, weddings, and photography. What makes Squarespace stand out from its competitors is its emphasis on quality and aesthetics. So, if you’re looking for a visually-pleasing website, Squarespace is your best bet, and its new Singularity template is no exception.

Squarespace’s limited-edition Singularity template was created specifically to be used on its new website design system, Fluid Engine, which launched in 2022. You can join the waitlist for the template now or browse alternative Squarespace templates to find the perfect fit for your website.

The Singularity template is incredibly stylish, modern, and sleek – we especially love the visual elements that effortlessly blend together, as well as the graphic animations to catch your eye. Plus, the demo site flows beautifully and features a simple navigation system to keep things minimalistic.

It’s the perfect example of Squarespace valuing quality over quantity, and a great representation of why Squarespace is the master of creative design in the website builder world. Happy 20th anniversary, Squarespace!
