Using social media as a business can be tricky. Engagement is key to growth, but as you begin to grow, this gets harder and harder to manage. TikTok has announced two new features to combat this: Creator Inbox and Creator Chat Room.

Creator Inbox

TikTok has released a new Creator Inbox for easier message management. In terms of organization, you can flag messages based on importance and find them in the “Starred,” “Other,” and “Spam” tabs. You can also filter your inbox by messages you haven’t replied to and those from people you follow.

On top of these organizational filters, there are more that I expect to be particularly useful for businesses:

  • Subscriber messages: Helps you engage with your most loyal followers, in turn enhancing your subscription packages.
  • Messages from people with over 10,000 followers: Saves time assessing collaboration requests from influencers, especially when you’re focused on finding micro influencers for your brand.
  • Quick replies: Create templates to reply to anticipated questions, requests, and praise in one tap.
  • FAQ feature: Set up custom responses to anticipated questions and display these at the beginning of any chat.

The Creator Inbox tools are immediately available to all creators and businesses with over 10,000 followers on TikTok.

Creator Chat Room

TikTok is also in the process of rolling out a new private space for creators and their followers to connect: Creator Chat Room. 

This feature functions similarly to a group chat, where paying members of your subscriptions and LIVE Fan Clubs can share links, stickers, messages, and TikTok videos. These private spaces are a great way for you to grow long-term relationships with your audience, add value to your subscriptions, optimize your content, and even boost your sales.

For example, you could use the Creator Chat Room to:

  • Gather feedback and content ideas
  • Share business updates
  • Express gratitude and interest in your followers
  • As a launch pad for new product drops

TikTok has said the Creator Chat Room is currently in the process of being rolled out. When it becomes available to you, you’ll be able to make up to 20 different rooms, each with a maximum capacity of 300 members. The tool will be available to creators who have a subscription or LIVE Fan Club and over 10,000 followers.

How To Start a Subscription on TikTok

Subscriptions are a good way to make money on social media while also rewarding your most loyal followers with additional perks. And, with TikTok’s Creator Chat Room enhancing the subscriber experience, now is a good time to start a TikTok subscription.

For eligible accounts, creating a subscription is easy:

  1. From your profile page in the TikTok app, click the “TikTok Studio” button under your bio
  2. Scroll to the “Monetization” tab and select “Subscriptions”
  3. Check your eligibility, then click “Join subscription”
  4. Follow the in-app steps to choose your pricing tiers and subscriber perks

As your business expands its TikTok presence and your inbox gets more active, these new features will streamline communication methods to help you maintain a strong relationship with your followers.
