Alongside September’s top social media trends, your business should also be keeping a close eye on the latest product updates. The most popular platforms are constantly enhancing their apps, ensuring that creators receive useful tools to help them boost their visibility, reach, and engagement.

For that reason, I’ve gathered together the most important updates from September, so you know what new features to look out for when upgrading your social media strategy. Even better, I’ll update this page throughout the month as new updates are released.

Instagram

  • You can finally pin your own comments on Instagram posts, a feature that hasn’t been available since 2020. By pinning your comments, you can highlight important information to your audience, or spark discussion among your community.

YouTube

  • Creators on YouTube can now dub their videos in multiple languages, making it much easier to reach new audiences and increase brand awareness across the globe. YouTube is rolling out this feature in the coming weeks.
  • YouTube Hype is the latest tool helping creators boost their visibility on the video streaming platform. When viewers “hype” your videos, you accumulate points that could get your channel seen by thousands on an official leaderboard.

Pinterest

  • Pinterest adds where-to-buy links, giving businesses a more efficient way to advertise to customers. On a single product ad, brands can share multiple, trackable external links to their own website and other retailer pages where they may be selling their products. The tool will be available to all US merchants in the coming weeks.
  • The next “Pinterest Presents” event is scheduled for September 25 and you can sign up now for free. The virtual summit features top tips from industry experts, as well as eye-opening insights on Gen Z shopping habits.

Threads

  • Businesses can now say a lot more on Threads, with the app enabling users to add 10,000 character blogs to their posts. You can easily attach a blog to your post by selecting the new “document” icon and adding in the text you’d like to share.
  • For posts with multiple threads, a post counter will now appear. This enhances the user experience by telling your readers how many posts they have left to read through.

Why Your Business Needs To Stay on Top of These Updates

Keeping on top of the latest social media updates is key for your business growth, since it’ll ensure that you’re making the most out of the free tools you have at your disposal. Whether that means checking out the latest analytics updates, or testing a new feature with your audience, you can find clever ways to help you cultivate your online presence and acquire new customers on socials.
