Wix Studio Pros and Cons

Wix Studio’s main benefits and drawbacks are:

✔️ What Wix Studio Does Well

  • Automations that speed up professional workflows
  • No-code editing and pro-code flexibility
  • Generous free plan with unlimited websites
  • Studio-grade and exclusive AI tools to accelerate SEO, content, and design – purpose-built for professional demands

Webflow Pros and Cons

If you’re considering Webflow, take note of the following:

  • High level of creative freedom
  • Custom HTML, CSS, or JavaScript code
  • Powerful CMS built for scalability

❌ Where Webflow Could Improve

  • Steep learning curve
  • Free plan limited to two two-page websites
  • Most AI tools are locked behind paid plans
  • Reliance on third-party apps

Webflow supports HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code export and React component import, which grants Webflow users much more flexibility, unlike Wix Studio, which locks users into the Wix ecosystem with limited code access.

  • Wix Studio includes ecommerce functionality starting on its Standard plan at $27 per month (billed annually)
  • Wix Studio has a free-forever plan

How Much Does Webflow Cost?

  • Webflow’s pricing consists of three premium plans that cost between $14 and $39 per month, when billed annually

Is Wix Studio Easier To Use?

Wix Studio is easier to use than Webflow, thanks to its guided setup and advanced features like reusable design kits, custom client permissions, and AI tools for SEO and content creation. Along with smart workflow automations, these tools make it easy for agencies and creatives to build standout websites at scale.

Upon entering Webflow’s editor, it provides a quick tour of the areas. However, Wix Studio’s editor immediately greeted me with a tutorial pop-up, where I could follow along to demos on everything from creating certain effects to working with different layouts.

How Easy Is It To Collaborate With Other Users?

Webflow and Wix Studio support real-time collaboration for multiplayer editing, and both provide a set of out-the-box user roles with predetermined permissions to streamline the onboarding process.

Wix Studio’s collaborator roles cover a wide range of business needs (website manager, content writer, billing manager) with customizable permissions, whereas Webflow’s design-focused user roles, which separate page design from marketing, content editing, and reviewing, are only customizable on the Enterprise plan.

What Are Webflow and Wix Studio Like To Use? My Experience

As a non-coder, I found Wix Studio easier to learn and use than Webflow because of its guided, structured setup process, whereas Webflow uses an open-ended approach better suited for experienced designers.

Both platforms give you a choice in starting with a blank page, template, or an AI building experience, which was an AI website builder on Webflow and a guided AI site structure design on Wix Studio.

How Do the AI Tools Differ?

Wix’s AI site structure generator had a more structured setup than Webflow’s AI website builder, asking for my:

  • Business type, name, location, and target audience
  • A description of the business and what makes it unique
  • Goals for the website
  • Tone of voice for the AI-generated text

As a first time user, this structured approach made me feel confident I was starting off on the right foot by providing all the necessary details about my website.

Webflow’s AI builder asks open-ended question setup questions, such as “describe your site” and “what can you share about your project,” which are more suited to experienced designers who know the exact facts and information they need to include for the best results.

I used the same business description on both builders to compare results:

“We offer a wide range of high-quality pet supplies, nutritious food, and unique accessories to keep your furry friends happy and healthy. Our knowledgeable staff are passionate about pets and are here to provide expert advice and personalized services.”

Webflow then gave me the chance to add, remove, and reorder elements on my homepage, although the accompanying page illustration wasn’t dynamic, so it was difficult to visualize the impact of my structural changes.

Wix Studio provides a sitemap & wireframe generator for all your website pages at once. I could drag, duplicate, and add Wix page elements – and, unlike my frustration with Webflow’s lack of preview, Wix’s wireframes provided a helpful visualization of my changes.

How Do the Editors Work?

Webflow’s editor separates content creation and design into two areas. For designers working on these areas in two stages, it means you can play around with one without accidentally altering the other. However, the constant switching becomes disruptive when working on these areas simultaneously.

Wix Studio’s drag-and-drop editor is easier to use than the sections-based editor Webflow uses. Wix Studio also has an intuitive sidebar that provides a wide choice of elements, including design kits for different website types. The “Quick add” tab provides easy access to the most commonly used elements, such as text, media, and lines.

Do The Builders Have Section Templates?

Wix Studio and Webflow have a range of section templates to choose from. Webflow offers more flexibility, since you can import additional templates directly into your editor from Webflow Marketplace Libraries. Still, Wix Studio has a wide range of stylish pre-installed section templates available.

Can I Sell Online With Wix Studio or Webflow?

Wix Studio offers better value for ecommerce, providing a 50,000-product limit on all ecommerce plans compared to Webflow’s 500-product entry-level limit.

Which Plan Do I Need To Sell?

Wix Studio includes ecommerce from the Standard plan ($27 per month) or above, and Webflow’s three separate ecommerce plans start at $29 per month.

Wix Studio is better value for online sellers, with cheaper starting prices and a 50,000 product limit on all ecommerce plans, whereas Webflow’s cheapest plan only allows 500 products, increasing to 15,000 on its most expensive $212 per month option.

Ecommerce Features

Both platforms offer strong ecommerce features, such as customizable checkouts, POS integrations, and social media marketing tools. However, Wix Studio provides native ecommerce features as an all-in-one solution, whereas Webflow relies more heavily on third-party integrations for advanced functionality.

Plugins unlock greater customization, although they can slow down your site and increase your monthly payments, since paid apps will incur fees on top of your monthly website builder subscription.

Ready To Choose?

Wix Studio is the best option for design agencies and creatives looking to design highly-customized, scalable websites at speed – with or without code – thanks to its unified design environment and exclusive AI-driven automations.

Wix Studio’s features let users focus on delivering professional outcomes without technical barriers. While it’s an all-in-one solution, Wix Studio also has a large app marketplace for even further customization.

Webflow is a design powerhouse, with an endless array of customization thanks to its advanced code control, although it has a steep learning curve and is more suited to experienced designers.

FAQs

Paid Webflow Workspace plans support HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and asset export, whereas Wix Studio doesn’t provide full access to code or support third-party hosting, meaning Wix Studio users are locked into the Wix ecosystem.
