In this review, I’ll go through each aspect of GoDaddy’s features, pricing, and usability, to help you decide if it’s right for your business, budget, and whether it’s the best website builder for you.

Who Do I Recommend GoDaddy for?

To help you decide whether GoDaddy is ideal for your business’ needs, take a look at these pointers:

Choose GoDaddy if…

  • You have limited technical knowledge
  • You want an easy building experience
  • You aren’t fussed with in-depth features or creative control
  • You want to use online marketing for a business or brand
  • You want a website with good value for money

Avoid GoDaddy if…

  • You need total creative control over your website
  • You need a particular app or plugin for your website
  • You need advanced ecommerce features to sell online
  • You want a site to be completely mobile-responsive
As well as offering a website builder, GoDaddy is also a website hosting provider that is known for its reliable 99.9% uptime rate. However, in this review I’m covering its website builder plans, which are solely focused on helping you build a website from scratch – without code or technical expertise.

1. My Experience With GoDaddy

When booting up GoDaddy, I was asked what features I wanted for my website. I could choose between three options: “Sell with an online store”, “Book appointments online”, or the ominously named “Something else”.

three options available for GoDaddy's ADI
I was greeted by this screen when opening up GoDaddy, which let me tailor my template based on the options shown. Source: Website Builder Expert

This is the first step of GoDaddy’s artificial design intelligence (ADI) software which can build a personal template from scratch. Simply tell GoDaddy the name and industry of your new website and its AI will do the rest, generating a unique template designed for your specifications. In our testing, these templates were unique every single time, even when given the same prompts.

Other website builders, like Wix, have ADI too – but none offer such a straightforward onboarding experience as GoDaddy. Because of this ease of use, I do recommended GoDaddy’s ADI for anyone completely new to building websites.

While GoDaddy offers a speedy AI setup, it falls short on design – especially compared to alternatives like Squarespace’s Blueprint AI, which adds a few extra steps to the setup but provides a more developed and tailored starting template. GoDaddy has fewer templates to draw from, covering a smaller range of industries and leading to generated templates that can feel generic and outdated. Opt for a platform like Squarespace instead if you need a more sophisticated website design.

Once complete, you’ll be prompted to choose a pricing plan, but you can ignore it and continue on GoDaddy’s free plan for as long as you’d like – but be warned, features like SEO can’t be accessed unless you upgrade.

Once I’d made it into GoDaddy’s editor, a pop-up checklist of ready-made features I could add to my website appeared. This included:

  • Image Galleries – To display a carousel of high-quality imagery. You can store your website’s media in GoDaddy’s media library.
  • Reviews – I could connect my business website to Facebook and pull through reviews left by customers, displaying them on the homepage.
  • Contact Us – A place to leave important contact details for website visitors to access. This includes a contact form alongside somewhere to display company details like emails, phone numbers, and opening times if your business has a physical location.
  • Online Appointments – If you need to accept appointments, you can add one online appointments section to your GoDaddy website where customers can book your services. However, you’ll need to be on the Premium plan to accept payments for these appointments.
  • Privacy Policy – Appearing near the bottom of your homepage, this is where you can clearly explain how your website uses user data and keeps it secure.
  • Subscription Forms – Where website users can sign up to your email list. Useful if your business has a regular newsletter.
  • Menu/Price Lists – Ideal for businesses with products or services, you can showcase your prices on your website in a sleek list.

I thought that this was a really nice touch since it saved time from having to find and add these features in the editor. You’re then able to “Take a Tour” of your new website, showing you exactly where the most important tools are.

an inner menu of GoDaddy's editor showcasing tis selections
Clicking on the "Add Section" button opened up GoDaddy's element menu, where I could pick and choose what features to have on my website. Source: WebsiteBuilderExpert

Luckily, there’s not much to understand with GoDaddy’s editor. GoDaddy is a block-based website builder, so I could add new sections by clicking the “Add Section” button. Then, I make my choice from the menu and GoDaddy inserts it into the page. In our group testing, my fellow writers also enjoyed how simple GoDaddy was to use. All of us were able to have a website live in around 30 minutes of editing.

While building a website with GoDaddy is simple, it’s also quite surface-level. Don’t expect to be able to change the minute details of the sections or features you add, and unlike Squarespace or Wix, there’s no drag-and-drop, so they’re rigidly attached to the page. This keeps everything neat, but it can make your website look slightly plain. For a more visually exciting website, I recommend exploring Squarespace and Wix’s design tools instead.

2. How Much Is GoDaddy?

In our rankings, GoDaddy offers the best value for money due to its very affordable plans. Its plans range from $9.99 to $20.99 per month when billed annually, and typically only charges extra for one particular feature, whether it be SEO, Booking, or Ecommerce.

Compared to other builders, this is a steal. For instance, Wix’s pricing starts at $17 per month (billed annually), which is significantly more expensive than GoDaddy’s cheapest plan at $9.99 per month (billed annually). GoDaddy even dropped its starting price in late 2024 from $10.99 to $9.99 per month; a refreshing change when we usually see builders increase their prices.

You can see the full breakdown of GoDaddy’s plans in this table:

Available Plans

Basic Plan For $9.99 a month (billed annually), you’ll get a host of features from basic blogging functionality, to image galleries, video and audio implementation. Every site has rapid page-loading performance and are all mobile responsive. You also get access to all of GoDaddy’s help and support features. SSL Security, social sharing, and GoDaddy's marketing suite, called GoDaddy Insights, are all built-in as well.
Premium Plan At $14.99 a month (billed annually), you’ll be opened up to a host of appointment and booking features. You can even accept payments for appointments, but no full ecommerce features.
Commerce Plan For $20.99 a month (billed annually), you can grow an online store through ecommerce features and sell products, offer discounts and shipping and more. Plus, get every other previous plan's feature.

While these prices are good, they’re introductory deals. After a year they’ll renew at a higher price. Here’s a full list of the renewal prices:

  1. Basic plan: $16.99 per month (billed annually)
  2. Premium plan: $29.99 per month (billed annually)
  3. Commerce plan: $34.99 per month (billed annually)

I was a little disappointed to see the prices go up rapidly after a year, though you can still test out GoDaddy without committing to a full year with its free plan.

I should mention the free plan has some limitations, such as banner ads advertising GoDaddy and no custom domain name – which is a big con for small businesses. But this free plan is great for giving the website builder a spin without having to commit any payments straight away.

Are There Additional Fees I Should Know About?

GoDaddy has a number of additional fees to consider, as well as the initial plan subscription. Some of these are avoidable by going to other providers, and some are inevitable, especially if you want to use GoDaddy’s ecommerce capabilities.

Domains

GoDaddy is one of the biggest domain registrars on the web and offers those using its website builder a free domain for a year. Afterward, you’ll have to renew it for $12.99 per month (billed annually) if it’s a regular “.com” domain. More sought-after domains may have more expensive renewal fees.

Email

GoDaddy used to offer a free Microsoft 365 Email with website builder plans, but I was disappointed to find out that they removed this offer in 2024. Now, you get a 30-day free trial of a professional email with GoDaddy Airo and from there you’ll need to pay GoDaddy if you want one for your business. Thankfully, these plans are quite affordable:

  • Microsoft 365 Email Essentials: $7.99 per month (billed annually). Comes with 10GB storage and the ability to use your website’s domain address in your email address
  • Microsoft 365 Email Plus: $9.99 per month (billed annually). Your storage jumps up to 50GB on this plan – ideal if you need additional space
  • Microsoft 365 Online Business Essentials: $14.99 per month (billed annually). This plan comes with additional web apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams

Processing and Transaction fees

If you’re planning on selling with GoDaddy, you’ll need to use GoDaddy Payments which comes with the GoDaddy Commerce plan, a payment-processing service that charges both processing and translation fees on all sales.

  • Transaction fee: 2.7% +$0.30 on each ecommerce transaction
  • Processing fee: Varies between 2.6% + $0.10 and 3.5% + $0.49, depending on credit card carrier

3. What Are GoDaddy’s Templates Like?

GoDaddy tends to rely on its ADI to make a custom template for you. While these templates are decent, and come with the benefit of already being specified to your answers, they can’t hide that, design-wise, GoDaddy is a bit outdated.

I had to leave GoDaddy's dashboard to view its template choices, which was annoying. However, the template choices themselves are attractive. Source: WebsiteBuilderExpert

When I saw my own site, GoDaddy had filled it with images and text, giving me a really solid idea of what my website should look like. However, when I tried to be a bit creative, GoDaddy’s design tools restricted me.

If you prefer the old-fashioned way and want a non-AI-built template, GoDaddy has over 200 templates to choose from. As of late 2024, GoDaddy has added a mobile-friendly preview option, which makes it easier than ever to ensure all of your site visitors have a positive experience – especially important since mobile users make up over 60% of online traffic.

On top of that, each template has 22 Theme Customizer options which gives you different layout variations. It’s a nice choice to have, and it certainly makes the creative side of building your website super fast, but this will disappoint the creatives out there who want to design the website themselves.

4. What Features Does GoDaddy Have?

If I were to describe GoDaddy’s features, I would call them “Wix-Lite”. Like Wix, GoDaddy has all the features a small business owner would need to run a successful website. It has blog functionality, image galleries, embedded video and music, Google Maps integration, contact forms, promo banners, call-to-action buttons, GoDaddy Insight scores, and more.

I found GoDaddy's blog tools in the dashboard. This let me better plan out my content without worrying how it would affect my site's design. Source: Website Builder Expert

But, unlike Wix, these features are not to the same standard of quality. They get the job done, but users looking for a real specialty in GoDaddy won’t find it. This is partly because GoDaddy has no App Market. If you need a specific tool or third-party plugin for your website, GoDaddy doesn’t have an easy fix for you, which dragged down its overall features score in our research.

But that doesn’t mean GoDaddy is useless. Far from it. I’ve put a special highlight on what features GoDaddy does best:

1. Social Media (Branded Content Creation)

Where GoDaddy succeeds is in getting your website’s name out there. And nowhere is better for getting your name out nowadays than social media.

GoDaddy offers integration with both Facebook and Instagram, letting you synchronize posts and content across both platforms. I was very impressed that I was able to track all the likes, comments, and analytics from both platforms, seeing what posts were doing well and which ones weren’t – all from the GoDaddy dashboard.

GoDaddy’s greatest tool however is its GoDaddy Studio app. With this mobile app, you can use AI to create branded content for social media in the form of videos or ads for Facebook and Instagram. These are a great, creative way to get the word out about your website, as 92% of internet users consume online video in some form each day.

2. Email Marketing

GoDaddy offers email marketing across all of its plans, letting you send promotional emails, welcome emails, and even newsletters from the GoDaddy dashboard. I saw that I was able to send up to 100 emails per month on the Basic plan, and up to 100,000 on the most expensive Commerce plan.

GoDaddy's email marketing dashboard

Once sent, you can track their analytics like any email campaign. You can automate these emails too, and if you’re on the Commerce plan, you’ll also get automated emails to confirm orders or encourage customers to return to their abandoned carts.

3. SEO

When using GoDaddy’s SEO for website builders, I loved how easy it was to understand. SEO can be a tricky skill to learn, and an even harder one to master – yet all new websites need to drive traffic to their pages.

Here’s what you can do with GoDaddy’s SEO tools:

  • Edit meta titles and meta descriptions – You can tweak these to change how your pages appear on search engine results
  • Change URL slugs – Make sure that these URLs are SEO-friendly and clearly indicate the contents of each page
  • Add image alt text – You can use this feature to describe the contents of your website’s imagery. This makes your website accessible for visually impaired users
  • Receive keyword support – I could access GoDaddy’s SEO Wizard from the dashboard to generate relevant keywords for my website
  • Use mobile responsive themes – This will enhance your website’s technical SEO and keep your website user friendly

4. Booking

GoDaddy has restructured its pricing since 2023 and, as a result, has integrated Booking and Appointment into its plans. While you can have one-time appointments on all plans, you’ll have to upgrade to the Premium or Commerce options to have access to recurring bookings and appointments.

When I tested the full package, I saw GoDaddy has really pulled out all the stops to make this a key feature of the platform. From client management tools, two-way calendar syncing, group events (that integrate with social media), and even text and email notifications.

What I noticed most of all was how integrated it was with GoDaddy’s other marketing tools – from emails to social media and texting. It also adds great organizational tools, like class lists and staff members.

GoDaddy has set itself up as a solid option for online booking websites, like a yoga instructor or therapist. Its booking tool is on par with what I would expect from Wix, and nothing makes this more evident than the fact you can accept card payments – without having to pay for full ecommerce capabilities.

With the Premium plan, small business owners (who use appointments) can start earning by only paying $14.99 per month (billed annually), which is a great deal.

5. Domains

GoDaddy is one of the leading domain registrars on the web, with 84 million domains and counting. The price for a domain is anywhere between $5.99 – $12.99 (VAT not included) to purchase a domain for one year, but competitive top-level domains like “.com” and “.ai” can go for more.

With over 84 million domains, GoDaddy may be your best bet on securing that perfect domain name. If you need a bit of help, GoDaddy has added Chat GPT support to help you brainstorm the perfect one.

5. What AI Tools Does GoDaddy Have?

GoDaddy has really embraced the current AI website builder revolution. I’ve already mentioned a few of the AI features in this review, but here’s a quick recap of some of GoDaddy’s AI tools:

  • ADI – Artificial Design Intelligence used to build a custom template
  • AI Branded Content – Used in the GoDaddy Studio app to generate video content and social ads
  • Domain Chat GPT – Used to help users find the perfect domain name

In March 2024, GoDaddy announced its new feature, GoDaddy Airo, which uses generative AI to help small businesses create an online presence even faster. This fully integrated feature will handle a lot of the work required in starting a new small business website, with GoDaddy’s research saying it will save new users $4000 and roughly 300 hours of work. Handy!

GoDaddy Airo is currently available in the US and is slowly expanding to other regions. In my personal opinion, GoDaddy reached for the stars, and GoDaddy Airo offers some of the best website builder integration I’ve seen – truly showing how useful this technology can be. Here’s what you can expect from Airo:

  • Logo designs – GoDaddy’s Airo can generate a unique logo for your business, which can help you get recognized online.
  • Create a coming soon website – Use this when you’re not ready to fully launch your business online yet.
  • Set up a professional email account and suggest social media handles – GoDaddy Airo bases these on your registered domain name, helping your business appear more professional within the market.
  • Generate product descriptions based on your uploaded product photos – This is similar to the Shopify Magic tool launched in 2023.
  • Register your business for a free LLC – All thanks to GoDaddy’s partnership with ZenBusiness.
  • Create email marketing campaigns – AI email templates can be automated which helps your business engage with your existing customers and target audience.
  • Generate a social media calendar and publish content – GoDaddy’s social media calendar tells you about important holidays and the best times to post. Airo can then fill the calendar with suggested ready-to-post content.
  • Create social media ads – GoDaddy Airo will help you build ads that can be placed on Google, Instagram or Facebook.
  • AI-powered SEO – Makes it easy to optimize your site for search engines
  • Generated responses to customers – Using GoDaddy Airo, you can collect and reply to all customer interactions from across all your platforms.

6. Can You Sell Online With GoDaddy?

GoDaddy’s ecommerce tools are only available on the Commerce plan, costing $20.99 per month (billed annually). You’ll be able to sell unlimited products to customers, ship them out, and (hopefully) receive a lot of cash in return.

the add a product page for GoDaddy

On the Commerce plan, you get:

  • SSL Security to protect customer payments and transactions
  • Abandoned cart recovery which sends reminders to customers when they’ve left an item in their cart
  • To accept payments from PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay
  • Promotions and discounts, such as digital gift cards or promotional banners
  • Free and paid shipping options
  • Site performance tracking from the dashboard’s built-in analytics

Additionally, you can integrate your GoDaddy website with in-person sales. Once you’ve bought a GoDaddy Poynt Card Reader, which cost $99 each, this device will allow enable you to start accepting payments from anywhere, be it your brick-in-mortar store or market stall. Just be aware that its in-person transaction fees are 2.5% + 0¢ per sale.

Compared with other platforms on the market, GoDaddy’s ecommerce tools are not much to shout about. If you’re a small business and just plan to sell a few homemade products, then GoDaddy will be perfectly suitable. Anything more than that and you’ll need a powerful ecommerce provider like Shopify that’s better suited to businesses with a large or scaling inventory.

7. What Support Is Available on GoDaddy?

What happens when you get stuck? Well, GoDaddy offers a fair amount in regards to help and support for customers, including:

  • 24/7 phone and live chat which is accessible from GoDaddy’s “Contact Us” page
  • Social media messaging, with GoDaddy’s business chat available from the official Instagram account
  • A knowledge center containing resources on account management, domains, marketing, and other essential topics
  • A community forum where you can ask other GoDaddy users for help
  • Additional courses, webinars, and podcasts
Screenshot of GoDaddy's 24/7 help page displaying contact options including phone, text, and live chat support.
When I had a problem with domains, I could head to the "Contact Us" page and use the chat box to find help. Source: Website Builder Expert

With GoDaddy being so streamlined to use, I rarely had to use these help and support features at all, but it’s reassuring to know that they’re there. The one issue I found was wondering where certain features were. For example, I went to the knowledge center only to find an article for a feature GoDaddy didn’t have.

This was confusing, and GoDaddy should do a better job of separating them from the actual guides.

How We Test

For this in-depth review, I took a magnifying glass to GoDaddy and brought you a comprehensive run-down of all of its most relevant features. I have Website Builder Expert’s excellent research methodology to rely on, collected by our team of researchers. Each year, we test each builder across a number of metrics and categories, build with and test each builder ourselves, and then collect it all to form the scores you see on this piece.

For GoDaddy, I knew that I wanted to highlight its particular strengths to new users; that being its super easy and quick builder and its impressive list of business features. In tandem together, GoDaddy makes for a great website builder for those who need a business website but have limited technical knowledge.

GoDaddy Website Builder Review – Summary

We recommend GoDaddy for anyone looking to build a website quickly without compromising too much on professionalism. For both entrepreneurs and small businesses, GoDaddy is an ideal choice. Its ADI editor makes building your site as easy as possible and also gives you options for customization.

GoDaddy’s website builder is great for selling online in small quantities, making it ideal for small businesses who are time-conscious and need a site live ASAP. However, if you want a personal website, or your business is in an artistic industry, it may not be your best bet.

Let’s not forget that GoDaddy has made great headway in improving its SEO and site speed capabilities, so we can only expect it to level up from here – watch this space!

Here’s My Lowdown on Weebly Pricing: The Website Builder’s Costs in 2025

If you click to purchase a product or service based on our independent recommendations and impartial reviews, we may receive a commission. Learn more

Nowadays, almost everything is online, and having a digital presence as an entrepreneur or small business is non-negotiable if you want to succeed. But high website costs can derail getting up and running. That’s where website builders like Weebly come in. Weebly’s goal is to make website building accessible with intuitive tools and adjustable pricing tiers to accommodate a range of needs and budgets.

Weebly is an affordable builder, with a free plan and three paid plans ranging from $10 to $26 per month (billed annually). But while Weebly is undeniably a very budget-friendly choice, we only recommend it for small personal projects, due to a lack of scalable features and recent updates.

Read on to learn what Weebly offers across free and paid plans, so you can get the lowdown on the key costs regarding this website builder.

How Much Does Weebly Cost?

Like most website builders, there’s more than one plan when it comes to using Weebly. It has three paid plans: Personal, Professional, and Performance. We recommend opting for an annual plan, which results in the lowest monthly cost. Weebly also has a free plan which you can stay on for as long as you like, and even comes with basic ecommerce tools!

Let’s take a closer look.

Weebly Plans

Now you know the basics of how much Weebly costs, let’s look at each plan’s costs and features, and who we recommend them for.

Free Plan: $0

Site Features

  • SSL security
  • 3rd party embed code

If you want to dip your toes in the water without any commitment, it’s worth giving the free plan a spin. We won’t beat around the bush, though; it’s pretty basic when it comes to site features. Moreover, it includes ads for Square on your website.

You get free SSL security, which encrypts sensitive information transmitted between a web server and a browser so that your site visitors can safely share personal data without worrying about security breaches or hacks.

There’s also 3rd party embed code for easily integrating payment processors, booking services, social media feeds, and other external tools that help expand your site’s capabilities beyond the Weebly core platform.

That’s about it as far as site features are concerned.

Ecommerce Features

  • Shopping cart
  • Unlimited items
  • Item badges
  • Item options
  • Quick shop
  • Inventory management
  • In-store pickup
  • Automatic tax calculator
  • Vouchers
  • Square gift cards

The ecommerce features you get on Weebly’s free plan are pretty impressive. Not many website builders let you sell for free, with leading platforms like Shopify starting at $29 per month. Weebly’s free plan features a shopping cart, unlimited items for ecommerce, inventory management, automatic tax calculator, and more.

Market and Support Features

  • SEO
  • Lead capture
  • Instagram feed
  • Community forum
  • Chat and email support

There’s also marketing help in the form of SEO tools and an Instagram feed to help drive traffic through social media promotions. You don’t, however, get a custom domain, which means your site URL will have “weebly.com” in it rather than using your own branding or business name.

For support, you can rely on chat and email help on the website, along with access to the community forum page.

Personal Plan: $10/month

Site Features

  • Everything from the Free plan, plus:
  • Connect a custom domain

If you sign up for the personal plan for a year, it’ll cost you $120 as opposed to $156 if you pay monthly. For those prices, you get a custom domain, which gives your website a touch of authenticity and personalization.

Ecommerce Features

  • Everything from the Free plan, plus:
  • Digital goods
  • Shipping calculator
  • Shipping labels

You get all the same features as the free plan, as well as shipping calculator and shipping label options for ecommerce stores. It’s mostly the ability to connect a custom domain that makes this plan more suitable for selling online, creating a more professional, and memorable, brand experience for customers.

Marketing and Support Features

  • Everything from the Free plan, plus:
  • Pop-up notifications

This plan comes with the option to create pop-ups for your website with the aim of capturing visitor emails, promoting sales, highlighting important notices, or driving other desired actions to engage your audience. Support is the same as the free plan.

Professional Plan: $12/month

Site Features

  • Everything from the Personal plan, plus:
  • Unlimited storage
  • Advanced site stats
  • Free domain
  • Remove Square ads
  • Password protection

If you’re looking for a bit more from your website-building experience, the Professional plan lets you get under the hood when it comes to creating a website. You’ll benefit from unlimited storage for all your rich media content without needing to worry about exceeding capacity limits.

Connect your own custom domain for a professional appearance that boosts branding efforts—a free domain registration is also included to lower ownership barriers. You’ll also get helpful insights into visitor interactions with advanced site statistics conveying traffic and behavior data. Plus, you can remove Square advertisements for cleaner layouts.

Ecommerce Features

  • Everything from the Personal plan; no extras
A webpage banner from Weebly promoting "The freedom to sell your products, your way" with a "Get Started" button, accompanied by images of diverse products and people.

As for ecommerce, it provides the same options as the Personal plan, such as a shipping calculator, unlimited items, and inventory management, to name a few. This is a bit disappointing, as there are few reasons to upgrade from a purely ecommerce perspective. You do get phone support, however. That’s great for anyone who would rather speak directly to a human about any issues they’re having.

Marketing and Support Features

  • Everything from the Personal plan, plus:
  • Phone support

Marketing features come in the form of SEO tools, lead capture, an Instagram feed, and pop-up notifications—the same as the Personal plan.

The Professional plan aims to satisfy small businesses, organizations, and bloggers seeking full-control over sleek, branded websites with pro-level customizations. If, however, you’re after a basic personal site, you might not require the enhanced features.

Performance Plan: $26/month

Site Features

  • Everything from the Professional plan; no extras

Ecommerce Features

  • Everything from the Professional plan, plus:
  • Accept payments through PayPal
  • Item reviews
  • Abandoned cart emails

The Weebly Performance plan takes things up slightly when it comes to ecommerce (though not by a whole lot). Most users will be disappointed to get pretty similar site features as the Professional Plan, meaning the main reason to upgrade is to access more ecommerce tools.

Even then, the only additional features include the ability to accept PayPal payments, item reviews, abandoned cart emails, and advanced ecommerce insights. These are essential features for a store looking to grow, which poses a problem; Weebly only offers these features on its most expensive plan, giving merchants nowhere to grow to after this.

Moreover, Weebly doesn’t really stack up against competitors as far pricing goes. It costs $26 per month, which is $1 less than Wix and $3 less than Shopify—both of which offer more features and scalability. Shopify, although more expensive, offers key features like abandoned cart recovery on its cheapest plan, making it a much more scalable option long-term.

Marketing and Support Features

  • Everything from the Professional plan, plus:
  • Advanced ecommerce insights
  • Priority support
Weebly Support search results page showing various help topics related to adding Instagram features to a user's website, like sections and shopping integration.
Weebly has plenty of support options. Source: Website Builder Expert

Weebly’s marketing features are also near-identical to the Personal and Professional plans, although there are advanced ecommerce insights for store sellers. As for support, you’ll get priority access as a Performance plan user, meaning you can expect to get queries answered in a timely manner.

The ecommerce point is worth zeroing in on again, as the plan is really only for people who want to sell online and have access to options like accepting PayPal payments. Otherwise, you’re probably better off sticking with the Professional plan.

Is Weebly Good Value for Money?

Weebly brings accessible website building to the table, catering to beginners and budget-focused users. While it is a very affordable option, with a generous free plan and a starting price of just $10/month, Weebly’s lack of features and updates means it doesn’t offer great value for money.

Let’s evaluate its pros, cons, and compare it against competitors to find out why.

Price Comparison

Weebly has a free plan, which is a big bonus if you want to try the website builder without any commitment. Even for paid options, Weebly is cheaper than Wix and Squarespace, with the Personal plan at just $10 monthly when billed yearly, compared to the Light plan on Wix ($17) and Basic on Squarespace ($16).

However, while Wix and Squarespace do cost more, we’d argue that the extra expense buys better design and features, such as more in-depth templates and add-ons. Wix and Squarespace are constantly releasing updates and improvements, whereas Weebly hasn’t released a new feature in years, falling behind its competition.

More Information

Who Is Weebly Best Suited For?

Beginners and the budget-conscious will find Weebly attractive. While it’s not as in-depth as some of the competitors, its simple interface and low prices will appeal if you want to build a website but aren’t overly concerned with having an array of features.

As far as ecommerce is concerned, Weebly stacks up well for small businesses – although for growing stores, we recommend choosing Square Online, or an even better platform like Shopify, instead.

Where Weebly Wins

There’s no doubt that Weebly stands out for its ease of use, acting as a highly intuitive, if basic, platform even for total beginners. Strong customer service earns kudos as well, with multiple support avenues available—especially if you’re on higher-tired plans. When it comes to the free plan, Weebly is quite generous. While the website features might be on the shallow side, its ecommerce plan is one of the rare free options on the market, with tons of features ready to get online stores up and running.

Where Weebly Falters

Weebly has stagnated in recent years, with no new updates or features to speak of. This leaves it feeling outdated and not up to scratch with other builders available. This lack of development makes you question what you’re paying for, with no new designs, AI tools, or feature improvements to help you succeed.

Despite Weebly’s low costs, we feel that other website builders offer much more when it comes to paid plans. Customization and design options typically lag competitors like Wix and Squarespace, with fewer options to make your website truly stand out.

Are There Any Hidden Costs?

Weebly is upfront about its costs, but it’s worth digging a little deeper to understand what you get, be it the free or paid plans. For instance, it advertises the Professional plan as being free of Square ads (Square, an online payments platform, purchased Weebly in May 2018). But that means the free and Personal plan feature advertisements from Square, something that’s not obviously clear when looking at the pricing.

There are also payment processing fees to consider if you’re using the ecommerce option to sell online. Weebly processes payments with standard industry fees of 2.9% plus a $0.30 fee per transaction.

Weebly also has plenty of apps you can add-on. While these are optional, you can integrate the likes of Zoho Books, Xero, and more to your website. Of course, not all of these are free, and cost up to $500 extra depending on the app type.

While the domain name is free for the first year on higher-tier plans, you’ll need to pay for it after 12 months and pay around $20. You can also add an email for an additional $5 per month.

Summary: Weebly Pricing

Weebly strikes an affordable balance between cost and key features for personal sites and smaller businesses, not to mention that it has one of the best free plans going. However, users who want customization freedom, standout design, or advanced ecommerce will find better value in other builders like Squarespace, despite higher prices.

Weebly Pro Plan Features Review – Worth the Upgrade?

If you click to purchase a product or service based on our independent recommendations and impartial reviews, we may receive a commission. Learn more

Weebly offers you a broad range of website building features that can help you build a website without knowing how to code. Our review will go over these tools and assess how they can actually help you build a better website.

In general, Weebly is very user-friendly and even though their tools are minimalistic, they give you pretty advanced functions. This is why Weebly, in our view, is one of the better website builders in the market today.

While Weebly is free for all to use, to get access to more advanced website building tools, you can upgrade to Weebly’s premium plans such as the Weebly Pro and Weebly Business plans.

For a small monthly fee, you get (1) new website building features that are previously not available with their free service, and (2) enhanced / improved elements that are not available to their free service users.

It’s important to note that Weebly Pro and Weebly Business plans include all the free features under their free service, so if you sign up with Weebly’s premium packages, you will get more features, and better features.

(Read this article to see detailed breakdown and our opinion about Weebly’s Pricing)

If you are a business, photographer or just anyone looking to build a professional looking website, Weebly Pro and Starter can be especially helpful for you. I will explain why in this article.

Before I give you my opinion about if Weebly’s premium plans are worth it, let’s take a look at the Pro features that you get when you sign up.

We will go over in more details including what they are, and how they can benefit you:

Premium Weebly Features

1) Site search

The site search element is a recent addition to the family of Weebly elements and is a very useful one. Note that this tool is only available to Weebly Pro users. It allows your visitors to quickly and easily find relevant and useful information on your website.

weebly pro site search box

weebly pro site search This element can be inserted into your Weebly website just like how you would normally insert elements. Just drag and drop it from the element toolbar at the top into any drag and drop area (such as in the main body area or in the footer area).

Another neat feature is that you can control search results, so if you don’t want a particular page to show up, you can hide it by going to the Page Settings and click on “Hide this page from search engine”.

This is a nice tool to have especially if you are a business website, or if you have a website that has a lot of information and features. This will make life a lot easier for your visitors, and can bring you more business.

2) Header slideshows

This Weebly Pro feature can make your website a lot more interactive and professional.

Normally, if you are using Weebly’s free service, you can only insert a static image into the header section of your website. However, if you subscribe to Weebly Pro, you can transform the entire header area into a slideshow.

weebly pro header slideshow

You can also insert text captions into the header slideshow, and hyperlink them to other web pages. Weebly allows you to configure the following features in the header slideshow:

  • Transition style (choose between slide, fade, mosaic, slide or fold effects)
  • Slide delay – here you control how fast your slides will transition to the next slide
  • Navigation style – you can configure how your visitors can control the slideshow by using arrows, dots, or nothing
  • Edit image – you can use Weebly’s ImagePerfect editor to actually edit the images that you insert into the slideshow. You can crop, rotate, or add all sorts of effects into your images.

weebly pro header slideshow options

This Pro feature is particularly useful if you have products you want to showcase, if you are a photographer, or you just have different messages you want to present to your visitors.

3) HD Video Player

If you have videos to display, and want your website to remain professional and project the feeling of high quality, the HD video element is a must have (only available to Weebly Pro users).

If you are using Weebly’s free service, you can insert YouTube videos into your website. However, the video player will be branded as YouTube and some of you may want an option to have an unbranded video player to keep your website professional.

Weebly’s HD video player element allows you to insert an unbranded, HD video player into your website. weebly hd video player It supports M4V, MPG, MOV, WMV and most other standard video formats and you can upload as many videos as you wish, as long as each video is under 1 gigabyte in size.

You can configure the video player so that it provides full HD playback on desktop, mobile, and iPad browsers.

4) Customizable footer area & Removing Weebly footer link

If you upgrade to Weebly Pro, you can insert your own information into the footer area of your Weebly website, including removing the Weebly footer link that exists for all free service websites (if you are not using Weebly Pro).

weebly pro footer In the footer section, simply drag and drop any Weebly elements into the footer. The most commonly inserted items include contact forms, social media icons, “About Us” information or even location map.

Some other Weebly users also like to insert important links which are also very effective, so you can guide your visitors to important parts of your website, or even to your other websites if you wish.

Removing the Weebly footer link is important, especially if you have a business website, or you just want your website to look more professional. Granted, the footer link isn’t big or too prominent, but it’s still more professional to be able to get rid of it.

5) Premium Weebly Support

According to our own experiences and from what we hear from many other Weebly users, Weebly responds to all questions when you email them – which is awesome.

However, if you subscribe to a Weebly Pro or Business plan, Weebly will place your support email ahead of free users so you get your questions answered sooner, which is nice especially if you are under time constraints. This is only fair as you are a paying premium user!!

6) Password Protected Pages

Once you subscribe to Weebly Pro, you can password protect individual web pages or your entire website. You can control which specific web page you want to password protect, simply by going to the Page Settings control panel.

Weebly Pro - Site Password

This is especially useful if you are building a new web page (although you can also Hide the web page until it is ready), or if you only want limited people with your password to access that particular page (in which case you can use BOTH the password protection and hide functions), so only those who know about the page can find it, and can access it with your password.

One downside about this feature is that you can only set one single password for your entire site. So you can not have individual passwords for each web page.

It would be nice to have this feature in the feature to give you more administrative control. One simple workaround is to use the “Editor” function so that you can invite other people to only edit very specific pages. This is particularly useful if you are working within a team environment, or if you have hired contractors to help you.

7) Audio Player

If you are a Weebly Pro user, their audio player element allows you to easily add music, podcasts, or other audio files directly to your website. Just drag & drop the audio player element into your website and upload your audio files with 1 click.

Just note that Weebly’s audio player can only accept MP3 files, so ensure your that your music files are MP3 file format before uploading.

8) Your Own Favicon

If you have a Weebly Pro or Weebly Business account, you can add a Favicon to your website. A favicon is a small icon that appears next to your browser’s address bar or the description tab.

Even though this might seem like a small feature, it does add a lot of professionalism to your website, since all major websites have this feature. It just looks a bit weird if you don’t have one as a lot of people expect it as a standard feature.

9) Expanded Traffic Statistics

Weebly only provides 30 days worth of visitors page views information for free Weebly accounts. If you upgrade to Weebly Pro or Business plans, you will also get information such as the most viewed pages, search terms your visitors used to find your website, or what websites referred the visitors to you.

Although this is useful data, we’ve heard from many users that the data may not be very accurate. It is best to use Google Analytics to help track visitors information. Google Analytics is free and quick to set up, and can provide you with a lot of important information about how your website visitors are using your website.

10) Unlimited Uploads

Weebly’s free accounts provide you with up to 500MB in storage space, but you can’t upload files that are larger than 10 MB in size. This can be restrictive especially if you have large video, audio, documents or download files.

If you subscribe to Weebly Pro, you can then upload file sizes that are up to 250 MB in size. You can even upload up to 1 GB video files.

This is useful if you have larger videos that you want to upload, or if you are a business website and you have a large document or pamphlet that you would like your visitors to download.

11) Membership Creation

With the Weebly Pro plan, you can invite up to 20 people to join your site as members.

You can restrict certain pages that only your members can access. This is really helpful if you want to create a private club, or just want to restrict certain content from the public.

Weebly Pro review members

Weebly’s Connect and free plans doesn’t have this feature, so you will need to upgrade to at least their Pro plan to have access to their membership creation function.

Is Weebly Pro or Starter Worth it?

If you are a business or if you just want to position your website to be more professional and well put together, I think upgrading to a Weebly’s Premium Plan is definitely worth it.

Although not all premium features are created equally (meaning that some are more useful than others), just the Site Search, Customizable Footer Area (including removing Weebly’s footer link) and the Header Slideshow are key features that could be very valuable to you.

Just these 3 Pro features can really upgrade and transform your website from an amateur one to a very professional looking one. This is especially important as it will provide a much better experience for your visitors, which will likely encourage them to stay longer on your website, and potentially increase your sales if you are a business.

How Much Do Weebly Paid Plans Cost?

Currently, upgrading your Weebly website to Pro is not too expensive. Weebly also offers you discounts if you sign up to their 1-year plan, and even a greater discount under the 2-year plan – so definitely take advantage of these discounts.

The 2-year plan gives you by far the best value and if you think about it, $9 per month for the Weebly Pro plan is only about 30 cents per day.

That’s not too bad if you compare it to your everyday expenses. So if you are serious about your website, all business or living expenses considered, signing up for 2 years is not a heavy investment to have your website be more professional in front of your visitors and customers.

Weebly’s Promise: 30-Day Money Back Guarantee

According to Weebly’s Terms of Service, if you sign up for a Weebly Pro or Starter account, and if you are dissatisfied with their services for any reason, they have a 30-day money back guarantee policy.

weebly pro guarantees refund

So there really isn’t any risk to you for trying out Weebly premium plans. They are so confident that you will be satisfied with their services that they are offering you this service without any financial risks to you.

Review Conclusion

Given all the enhanced and additional features that you can receive from Weebly Pro or Business plans, especially the header image slider, the site search and flexible footer function, I definitely think Weebly is great value for their low monthly fees.

Upgrading to a Weebly Pro or Business plan is really one of the most valuable ways to create a professional looking website.

And why not, they have a 30-day money back guarantee so if you don’t like it in any way, no harm will be done to you.

Wix Ecommerce Review 2025: Do I Recommend It for Online Stores?

If you click to purchase a product or service based on our independent recommendations and impartial reviews, we may receive a commission. Learn more

Wix is one of the best ecommerce website builders I’ve tested, offering a well-rounded solution that caters to a variety of industries and businesses. It’s ideal for anyone looking to combine easy editing tools, uncompromising website features, as well as ecommerce functionality.

Key Takeaways 🔍

  • Ecommerce plans range from $29 to $159 per month (billed annually)
  • Save money and get 10% off your plan with the code “TAKE10”
  • Wix has the best website functionality to help you manage and grow your business
  • Wix’s AI website builder and drag-and-drop editor make building your online store super easy
  • Get personalized SEO support to boost your site visibility

I updated this page on May 16, 2025, to reflect our recent round of ecommerce website builder research and rankings. Wix is our second top-rated choice, after Shopify, so I’ve made sure all of the copy is accurate and up-to-date. And, to help you make a decision for your business, I’ve shared personal insights about my experiences when testing Shopify.

Wix Pros & Cons

Before I dive into the details, here’s a quick look at Wix’s main benefits and drawbacks when it comes to selling online:

What I Like

✔️ Complete business management to help you set up your online store, manage your inventory, and monitor your site’s performance

✔️ Great sales tools available on the Core, Business, and Business Elite plans, including abandoned cart recovery, discounts, and multichannel selling

✔️ 2000+ professionally designed templates that suit a variety of industries and business types

✔️ Personalized SEO tools to help your online store appear in search engines and drive traffic to your products

✔️ An easy drag-and-drop editor that gives you total creative control when designing your online store

What I Dislike

Inventory space and storage space is limited – you can only sell up to 50,000 products, and storage space is only unlimited if you upgrade to the most expensive Business Elite plan

❌ Your template is fixed once chosen, making it harder to redesign your brand or update your site’s look

❌ There’s no email support and Wix’s live chat isn’t as responsive as others I’ve tested, such as Shopify and Hostinger

Our Wix review video gives you a complete overview of the website builder, including its sales features:

My Experience With Wix

I set some time aside to test Wix myself and I was incredibly impressed by how quick and user-friendly the process was. After signing up, I had the option to build my online store using a template or through Wix’s AI website builder – the highest quality AI builder we’ve tested in 2025.

Author's testing notes...

I recommend choosing Wix’s AI website builder if you want to get your store live quickly. The chatbot asked me some basic, yet personalized, questions about my business needs. How long this takes depends on how detailed your answers are, but it only took me a couple of minutes to complete in total.

From there, Wix generates a custom template based on your responses. Yes, the templates are fairly simple, but speed is its main selling point. Besides, I’d argue that Wix’s AI-generated templates are still more detailed and unique than other builders, like Hostinger.

Using Wix’s Editor

Thankfully, I could also make additional tweaks to my AI-generated template in Wix’s drag-and-drop editor. The editor shows you how your edits are impacting the design of your storefront in real-time, making it easy for me to experiment and swap things around without breaking my creative flow.

Of all the drag-and-drop editors I’ve tested, Wix’s gives you total creative freedom to position elements wherever you want. For anyone new to website building, this can feel a little overwhelming, but it does allow you to make your online store truly unique.

Adding Products

Setting up a website with Wix is pretty much the same no matter what you’re building. But, of course, with online stores, you’ll need to add your products as well. I was prompted to add my first product in the setup section of my Wix account, but you can also navigate to your inventory by clicking “Catalog” in the left-hand sidebar.

Wix lets you bulk import products as well as add individual products manually. When I first clicked “New Product”, Wix gave me the option to pick a physical or digital product.

You’ll then be presented with a product page to fill out – this is all of your basic information, such as name, product description, pricing, and variants. I even used Wix’s AI text creator to help generate a product description based on a brief prompt.

Top Tip 💡

You can also upload product imagery and videos at this stage. This is a critical step and one you shouldn’t ignore – don’t leave customers in the dark about what they’re buying, so make sure to upload high-quality imagery. It’s worth noting that Wix lets you upload up to 15 images for each product.

How Much Does Wix Cost?

Wix’s pricing ranges from $17 to $159 per month (billed annually), spread across four premium plans. You can test things out with Wix’s free plan, but you must upgrade to the Core, Business, or Business Elite plan to sell online – the Core plan starts at $29 per month (billed annually).

Is Wix good value for money?

In my opinion, Wix is a great option if you’re looking to maximize the value of your monthly subscription, especially for ecommerce and small business owners! Out of all of the builders we researched, Wix had the biggest array of tools and features that will help you scale and grow, such as their email marketing, social media integrations, bookings tools, and AI social content planner. Also, one of the great things about Wix is its Core plan, starting at just $29 per month. You can quite comfortably upgrade to its Business plan for just another $7 per month, making it a very realistic and scalable platform.

What Sales Features Does Wix Offer?

Wix has a decent range of built-in sales features to help your online store function and thrive, making it a good all-in-one platform for businesses needing to sell online and promote their products. Every ecommerce plan – Core, Business, and Business Elite – gives you the basic tools, including abandoned cart recovery and discounts.

Latest Wix sales features

  • Wix introduced a Printful integration in March 2025, providing businesses with access to the print-on-demand and dropshipping fulfillment services, all without having to leave the Wix dashboard
  • In May 2025, Wix announced adaptive content, meaning businesses can now create personalized web experiences for their customers to help boost engagement and drive more sales

📦 Inventory

Unfortunately, Wix is a little let down when it comes to inventory space and storage, since it limits you to 50,000 products and storage capacity depends on your premium plan. The Core plan offers 50GB of storage, the Business plan increases to 100GB, and you’ll only unlock unlimited storage with the Business Elite plan.

Other builders, like Shopify, offer unlimited storage and let you sell an unlimited number of products, no matter which plan you’re on. However, Wix’s maximum capacity will be more than enough for the majority of small businesses.

Wix’s robust inventory management will help you track your store’s inventory, set up stock alerts, and mass import products and variants. You also have the flexibility to customize your inventory as well, from product colors and sizes, to unique labels so you can mark new arrivals.

🛒 Multichannel Selling

With Wix, you can expose your brand to more customers by selling across other channels (in addition to your website). Wix has fewer multichannel selling options than our top-rated ecommerce builder, Shopify, but you can sync your store with popular marketplaces, such as Amazon and eBay, as well as social media platforms, like Facebook and Instagram.

Having multiple avenues to generate sales can be a great way to engage with customers, build brand awareness, and drive traffic back to your online store.

I could easily connect my site with other sales channels, such as Amazon, to diversify my business opportunities. Source: Website Builder Expert

💰 Payment Options

When it comes to accepting payments, Wix has partnered with over 70 payment providers, including PayPal and Stripe. However, I highly recommend choosing to use Wix’s native payment gateway, Wix Payments. This is designed to streamline your transactions and make them easier to manage from a single dashboard.

With Wix Paymentsyou won’t be charged third-party transaction fees. However, you will be charged a processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per online transaction. This is similar to Shopify, though Shopify decreases the rate if you upgrade to one of its more expensive plans.

Wix's AI Features

In addition to Wix’s impressive AI website builder, the platform utilizes the power of AI at every stage of the journey. You can see a full list of Wix’s AI features in our dedicated guide, but here are some of the key ones to know about:

  • Business Launcher – Share your skills and interests and let AI generate related business ideas and an action plan to help you launch it
  • Astro – This new AI-powered business assistant will support Wix merchants with tasks, workflows, and projects
  • AI text creator – Give Wix a prompt to work with and it’ll generate three options for you in differing styles, so you can find the right match for your site
  • AI theme assistant – Get design recommendations and tips within the Wix editor, including advice on what type of font to use
  • AI product support – Use Wix’s AI tools to generate product descriptions and even recommend related products to customers shopping on your store
  • AI site-chat – This AI tool responds to simple customer queries for your business 24/7, offering informed answers, product suggestions, and more

Designing With Wix

After putting Wix’s templates to the test, we found it’s one of the best options for designing an online store, sitting just behind Shopify and Squarespace in our rankings.

Wix has over 2,000 free and mobile-optimized templates, with hundreds of these catering to ecommerce businesses specifically. When browsing the library, I could filter to just show “Health & Wellness” or “Construction” templates.

Top Tip 💡

You can’t switch your Wix template once your site has been published. To help make the right design choice, I recommend previewing the themes you’re interested in by clicking “View” when hovering over the image. If you do feel like changing your store’s look down the line, you’ll have to build a new site and re-enter your content again – or, go through the time-consuming process of tweaking every existing element individually to suit your new style.

Does Wix Have an App Market?

Wix already has an impressive suite of built-in features, but you can add extra functionality to your store through its app market. This allows you to customize your site depending on your business needs. Currently, there are over 800 Wix-built and third-party apps available.

A vast number of apps are free to use or offer free plans, such as Wix Bookings and Printful. However, some third-party apps will require you to pay an additional subscription fee – this is on top of your website builder package. For example, shipping software ShipStation has a 30-day free trial, but its cheapest plan starts from $9.99 per month.

So, if you want to keep business costs low, you can decide which apps to install and pay for.

Wix's SEO Tools

Wix is the best SEO website builder we’ve tested in 2025, giving you the tools you need to boost your brand’s visibility and increase traffic to your pages. In fact, Wix claims that stores using Wix’s SEO tools see a 24% increase in monthly revenue!

Wix covers all of the SEO basics, such as metadata and sitemaps, but it goes the extra mile in comparison to other builders. Here are some of the key Wix SEO features you can expect:

  • Customized SEO setup checklist – This SEO guide for beginners offers best practice tips and optimization advice to ensure your website is in the best shape it can be
  • Integrations with Google Analytics and Google Search Console – Review data like your site’s performance and visitor behavior by seamlessly connecting your site with these Google tools
  • Keyword support with Semrush – Get detailed keyword research to find other content opportunities and optimize your site for search engines
  • SE Ranking app for competitor analysis – See how others in the market are performing to learn what works and what doesn’t
  • SEO Learning Hub – The hub is full of resources, including blog posts, podcasts, and webinars, so you can improve your SEO skills in your own time

Author's testing notes

I’ve been taking the Wix Studio SEO course to boost my knowledge on the side of my day-to-day work, and I’ve loved being able to pause and dive back in whenever I want. So far, the modules on keyword research and link building have been my favorite! Plus, you get a certificate at the end of each module if you pass the exam.

Using Wix's Customer Support

While Shopify has the best customer service we’ve tested (offering email support, which Wix lacks), Wix is still a close second thanks to the 24/7 support it provides.

Wix’s customer service is accessible through a variety of channels, including:

  • 24/7 phone support
  • Live chat, available between Monday and Friday (2AM-6PM EST)
  • Social media – Wix has accounts with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, X, and LinkedIn

You can also tap into Wix’s bounty of online resources through the Help Center (for detailed guides), SEO Learning Hub (for SEO-specific content), and Wix Learn (for videos and online courses).

Should You Choose Wix?

Of course, Wix isn’t the only ecommerce website builder out there. Our research found Shopify to be the best platform for selling online, with Wix taking second place. But which should you pick? I’ve summarized our top recommendations below:

  • Shopify offers the tools you need to scale your business – it’s better equipped to handle larger inventories than Wix, but its plans are more expensive
  • Squarespace is ideal if you want to sell services, thanks to its Acuity Scheduling tool, but the builder isn’t as scalable as Wix
  • Hostinger is the most affordable option, with its ecommerce plan starting at just $3.99 per month, but it lacks the quantity and quality of features available through Wix
  • GoDaddy has great social media marketing tools, but you’ll miss out on the customization and scalability of Wix

Should you use Wix?

Wix is a great all-rounder when it comes to selling online. You can sell a variety of product types, customize your online store to suit your brand, and add extra functionality if needed. Because of this, I highly recommend picking Wix if you’re a new business owner looking to embark on your online journey and build your brand’s online presence. Wix caters to practically every industry and it’s incredibly beginner-friendly, all for a fairly decent price point.

My Verdict: Is Wix Good for Selling Online?

Because of all the features needed to run an online store, ecommerce builders can often be complex to use and take to get to grips with. However, while Wix is loaded with features, it combines ease of use with a brilliant range of sales tools, as well as great customization options. As a result, Wix has become one of our top choices to recommend for online stores.

Wix provides small businesses with an all-in-one platform to get and grow online. And, because of Wix’s broad audience, it’s a great option for a lot of industries and business types. But, test out its features for yourself with Wix’s free plan, and then upgrade once you’re ready to start selling.

Squarespace is one of the industry’s finest website builders, offering four premium plans that range from $16 to $99 per month (billed annually). It provides a user-friendly experience and high-quality templates to creatives and businesses.

There are optional paid extras as well, such as Squarespace Email Campaigns and Acuity Scheduling. Get started with Squarespace’s 14-day free trial to test things out for yourself, and get 10% off your chosen plan with our code “WBE10”.

How Much Does Squarespace Cost?

Squarespace has four premium plans to choose between: Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced. Pricing has increased this year, now ranging from $16 to $99 per month (billed annually).

See the table below for a quick overview of each plan:

You can save up to 28% by paying annually instead of every month, or you could save 10% on your Squarespace plan by using our exclusive code “WBE10” at checkout.

If you’re not ready to sign up for a premium plan just yet, Squarespace offers a 14-day free trial so you can get familiar with the platform and its settings before spending a cent. No card details are necessary at this stage. Unlike Wix, Squarespace doesn’t have a free plan, so the trial period is the only chance you get to explore the platform.

Is Squarespace Good Value for Money?

Squarespace the easiest website builder I’ve tested, thanks to its intuitive interface and drag-and-drop editor, but it isn’t the most cost-effective option for businesses, especially with its recent price increase. Squarespace has a lot of great features, but prices do increase quite steeply as you upgrade, and you’ll need to pay extra for select tools.

Other top platforms, including Wix and Hostinger, are much better value for money. For example, Wix offers a free plan, in addition to a range of premium plans (with high-quality website features included). And, Hostinger provides a good range of tools at a very affordable price point.

Watch our video to see if Squarespace seems like a good fit for your business:

Basic: $16 – For Portfolios & Side Hustles

Squarespace’s Basic plan is the cheapest option available, and you can sell online with the Basic plan – this is more affordable than Wix’s first ecommerce plan which costs $29 per month.

As the entry plan into Squarespace’s website builder, you’ll unlock the majority of the platform’s features:

  • Blueprint AI (Squarespace’s AI website builder)
  • Free custom domain, for your first year
  • Squarespace ecommerce features
  • 2% transaction fee for physical products and services
  • 2.9% + $0.30 credit card processing rate
  • SEO tools, including an SEO checklist
  • Unlimited bandwidth and storage space
  • Up to 30 minutes of video storage
  • 24/7 support
  • Drag-and-drop editor
  • 2 contributors
  • Basic website metrics
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Squarespace’s AI tools
  • Squarespace Extensions (to install third-party apps)
  • Custom print-on-demand merch
  • Audience management tools

Who Do I Recommend the Basic Plan For?

If you’re simply looking to showcase work and share information, the Basic plan is the right choice. All of these features create a great starting point for anyone looking to get online or build a website. And, while you can sell products with the Basic plan, you’ll get better ecommerce functionality on the Core plan or above. For this reason, I recommend the Basic plan for simple sites, digital portfolios, and creatives that don’t need all the added features on the more expensive plans.

Core: $23 – For Small Businesses

The Core plan, which costs $23 per month (billed annually), is Squarespace’s recommended plan, according to the builder. It’s only a slightly step up in price from the Basic plan, but it delivers plenty of additional features, including:

  • 0% transaction fees
  • 2.9% + $0.30 credit card processing rate
  • Advanced sales analytics
  • Unlimited contributors
  • Add promotional pop-ups and banners
  • Offer unique discounts (previously only available on the most expensive plan)
  • Branded Google email address
  • Google Shopping integration
  • Five hours of video storage
  • Advanced shipping tools, including shipping labels

Who Do I Recommend the Core Plan For?

I recommend the Core plan for small businesses since you’ll get access to all of Squarespace’s features for just $23 per month, and you won’t be charged transaction fees with any online orders. The more expensive plans, Plus and Advanced, only reduce processing fees, so you probably won’t need to upgrade beyond this point.

Plus: $39 – For Growing Online Stores

The Plus plan costs just $39 per month (billed annually), providing additional support for growing businesses. With the Plus plan, you’ll unlock everything from the Basic and Core plan, as well as:

  • 50 hours of video storage
  • 0% transaction fees
  • 2.7% + $0.30 credit card processing rate

Who Do I Recommend the Plus Plan For?

The Plus plan is great if you run a growing small business, but you won’t really get any new features for your money, besides reduced processing fees. Most online stores will be content with Squarespace’s Core plan, since this provides everything you need. But, the Plus plan’s cheaper card processing rate will help you save money as your sales continue to increase. That said, if you’re happy to pay nearly $40 for your subscription, I’d recommend one of our top-rated ecommerce builders, like Shopify or Wix, to support your business instead.

Advanced: $99 – For Established Businesses

Like the Plus plan, the only added benefit of Squarespace’s most expensive plan is reduced payment processing fees. Pricing on the Advanced plan starts from $99 per month, having recently increased from $52 per month.

You’ll have access to all of the features on the Basic, Core, and Plus plan, as well as a few extras:

  • Unlimited video storage
  • 0% transaction fees
  • 2.5% + $0.30 credit card processing rate

Who Do I Recommend the Advanced Plan For?

The Advanced plan is ideal if your online store is growing rapidly or looking to expand in the future – but there’s nowhere up from here. It helps you take your store to the next level thanks to the reduced card processing fees, but other website builders, like Shopify, offer greater scalability to help your business succeed in the long run. With Squarespace, you pretty much hit a ceiling after the Core plan, since this is when you unlock all of Squarespace’s advanced features.

Additional Squarespace Fees

With Squarespace, you’ll get a free custom domain name for one year (if you choose an annual plan), but it’ll cost around $20 per year once it’s time to renew. In comparison, you’ll need to pay for a custom domain name immediately with a builder like Shopify, which can cost an extra $15 per year.

Besides the custom domain name, there are no other hidden fees with Squarespace, just optional extras. There are plenty of add-ons available with Squarespace that you can integrate into your website builder, such as:

  • Acuity Scheduling – use this if you’re looking to offer bookable services to customers (pricing starts from $16 per month, billed annually)
  • Squarespace Email Campaigns – use this to engage with your target audience and customize emails, newsletters, and more (pricing starts from $7 per month, billed annually)
  • Squarespace Members Area – use this to help monetize your content and build a community online (pricing starts from $9 per month, billed annually)
  • Digital Products Add On – use this to sell digital products like courses, lower transaction fees, and increase your site’s video storage capacity (pricing starts from $9 per month, billed annually)

What about transaction fees with Squarespace?

Like most website builders, you’ll also face transaction fees with Squarespace. However, what you pay depends on your plan:
  • Basic plan: 2% transaction fees
  • Core, Plus, and Advanced plans: 0% transaction fees

Credit card rates will also decrease as you upgrade your plan, starting at 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction and reducing to 2.5% + $0.30 by the time you upgrade to the Advanced plan.

How To Save Money With Squarespace

Setting up a website or establishing an online business can quickly make a dent in the budget, but there are ways to keep the costs low with Squarespace:

  • Select an annual plan instead of paying monthly – save up to 28% if you pay for the year
  • Choose the right plan for your needs – the Core plan ($23 per month) is my top choice for online stores
  • Limit your extra features – make sure you’re only paying for what your website or business needs

How We Test Website Builder Pricing

How do we determine if Squarespace is good value for money or not? Our in-house research team has clocked over 300 hours of data collection and testing to help us bring you accurate and up-to-date recommendations.

Our research process reviews six core research categories, covering user experience, website features, and more.

However, when we’re writing about how much a builder costs, we focus solely on our pricing category. This looks at:

✅ Whether a website builder offers a free trial or plan
✅ The quality of features for the price you pay
✅ The average costs of plans
How much you have to pay for standard features, such as SEO and unlimited storage

Final Verdict: Which Squarespace Plan Should You Choose?

Squarespace remains one of the best website builders we’ve tested, offering four premium plans and a 14-day free trial. It’s the easiest website builder to use, offering beginners and designers an intuitive editor, stylish templates, and great booking tools. To recap, pricing ranges from $16 to $99 per month (billed annually).

Ultimately, the plan you pick will depend on your business needs. All plans let you sell online, so it’ll come down to things like advanced tools, video storage, contributors, and transaction fees.

My thoughts on Squarespace's plans...

With its recent pricing changes, Squarespace now offers a very affordable entry point for businesses looking to sell online. But, for a slight jump up from the Basic plan, I recommend picking the Core plan above all other options. The Core plan gives you access to impressive sales tools, including ecommerce analytics and discounts, for a cheaper price than Wix or Shopify! And it removes transaction fees entirely.

However, I’d call it quits after the Core plan. Squarespace’s Plus and Advanced plan don’t give you much bang for your buck (besides reduced card rates), so I’d recommend looking at alternative platforms if your business is growing rapidly. That said, most small businesses will have everything they need with Squarespace’s Core plan.
